Striving for Excellence

PSHE and RSE

Feniscowles Primary School has created a curriculum intent statement.  This intent has been written to provide an overarching context for our school curriculum to allow A Feniscowles Child’ to ‘Live Life in its fullest’.  This document can be found on our website and should be read in conjunction with our subject specific intent statements.

How does PSHE and RSE contribute to our curriculum intent?

PSHE and RSE Intent

At Feniscowles Primary, we believe character education sits at the heart of developing ‘ The Feniscowles Child’ as defined within our overarching school curriculum intent statement.  PSHE and RSE form a key component of this education.

At Feniscowles Primary School we value PSHE and RSE as one way to support learners’ development as human beings, to enable them to understand and respect who they are, to empower them with a voice and to equip them for life and learning.

Through PSHE we will teach our learners how to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. Our curriculum will provide opportunities for learners to reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.

Our learners will be  helped to understand and respect our common humanity; diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning.

Our PSHE curriculum will provide our learners with a strong framework to enable them to ‘Live Life in its Fullest’ in a VUCA world (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) whilst appreciating the wonderful opportunities and excitement that life holds for them and how to make the most of their it.

Our PSHE and RSE Policy provides you with details on how we implement this intent through our curriculum.
