Welcome to
Our School
Feniscowles Primary School is a thriving school with a strong reputation. It has been my privilege to be headteacher since September 2020.
All schools have their own distinctive culture and ethos, which makes each one unique. We believe that our distinctive culture is rooted in a shared understanding of 'The Feniscowles Way'.

Y5–6 Girls Crowned Blackburn Champions Huge congratulations to our amazing Year 5–6 Girls' Football Team who were crowned Blackburn Primary Schools' Champions tonight at St Bede's! The girls came flying out of the blocks with three fantastic wins: 6–0 vs Shadsworth Juniors 5–0 vs QEGS 4–0 vs The Redeemer These brilliant performances put them top of the table heading into the final games. In a tense penultimate match, the girls showed real resilience - coming from behind to draw 1–1 with a strong Lower Darwen side. That set up a winner-takes-all showdown against second-place Lammack. And what a performance! The team took control early and powered to a 4–0 victory, securing the title in style. Champions of Blackburn! Every single player played their part and represented our school with pride, teamwork, determination and superb sportsmanship. They truly lived our School Values throughout the tournament. The team will now go on to represent Blackburn in the Lancashire County Finals at Fleetwood Town's training ground on Friday 16th January. What an achievement! Well done, girls - we are all incredibly proud of you!
Today we had another special visitor in assembly talking to us about his job and career. Neil Challenger (an ex-pupil of Feniscowles and classmate of Mrs Henry!) spoke to us about the importance of wind turbines and renewal energy. He told us all about starting as an apprentice, becoming an engineer, to now managing a team of people and travelling all over the world! Neil left the children with a very important message... you don't have to be the smartest person in your class, as long as you work hard and try your best then you might be able to get your dream job one day too! Thank you so much for your time & inspiration Neil, we appreciate it so very much
Although our official open days have been, we'll always welcome families for individual tours at any time too Please contact the office to arrange a time.
This half term we have lots of visitors planned for our assemblies to talk about their jobs and careers! We kicked off the half term with Jade Whittaker: a veterinary surgeon and Rayne her gorgeous three-legged dog (who I'm sure smiled on purpose for the camera at the end of this clip ) Jade spoke to us about her job and what subjects and skills at school might help us. Our jobs and careers focus this year is to help inspire the younger generation. We hope that by meeting lots of adults from lots of different industries, that the children will learn about all kinds of possibilities that may lay ahead in their futures whilst keeping subjects relevant to them! A HUGE thank-you to Jade and Rayne for joining us this morning and watch this space for more future roles soon! #eyfs #jobs #primary #primaryschoolassembly #assemblyideas #careersweek #vet #vets #dog #doginschool #assembly #ks1 #ks2
National Recognition at the Cenotaph Two days on, we are still incredibly proud of the honour Feniscowles Primary received in being invited to the Cenotaph in London to lay a wreath as part of the national Armistice Day ceremony. Our History Club representatives showed exceptional respect, maturity and understanding throughout. Their ongoing commitment to learning about WWI and ensuring its legacy lives on is something truly special. This national invitation reflects the strength of our work in history education and the values that sit at the heart of our school community. It was a meaningful moment for all involved, and one that will stay with us for a long time. And yes- Mr Andrew (writing this as a semi apology!) understands the need to take portrait photos to help with social media editing! Lest We Forget Striving for Excellence in remembrance and respect.
It was lovely to welcome Reverend Bryn into school for our infant and junior assemblies this morning all about Remembrance Day. Feniscowles children also read a poem at the war memorial as part of the community event. We stand in silence, heads bowed low, for those who came and had to go.
A huge thank-you to Avi's mum and grandma for coming into school to teach our Key Stage 1 children all about Diwali in this morning's assembly. We LOVED hearing the story; smelling the beautiful intense and looking at the sparkly clothes. #diwali
