Welcome to
Our School
Feniscowles Primary School is a thriving school with a strong reputation. It has been my privilege to be headteacher since September 2020.
All schools have their own distinctive culture and ethos, which makes each one unique. We believe that our distinctive culture is rooted in a shared understanding of 'The Feniscowles Way'.

Our school garden 'Maggie's Den' is really starting to take shape now that the weather is improving! We have lots of vegetables that are starting to grow and the flowers are starting to bloom - creating a lovely space for all the bees and butterflies. Thank you to all of you who have sent in bulbs, seeds, plants etc we all appreciate your generosity and it has helped our garden develop into a lovely area for everyone to enjoy.
Year 1's Brilliant Butterfly Puppets! Our creative Year 1s have been busy in Design & Technology this week, designing and making their very own butterfly puppets! As part of the project, we explored different ways to join materials, using glue, staples, and safety pins safely and effectively. The children worked so hard to plan their designs, carefully assemble their puppets, and finally, evaluate their finished creations. We were so impressed with the creativity, focus, and teamwork on display – and most importantly, we had so much fun along the way! Well done, Year 1 – your butterfly puppets are absolutely fabulous!
Happy Friday! Thanks to all who supported our ice-cream sale today! It has helped to raise over £200 for school! This was organised by our PTA and any monies raised always go "straight back into school" to help make things better for our children.
PINS Parent Meeting – Supporting Neurodiversity Together This week, we welcomed families to our third and final PINS Parent Meeting of the year. The PINS Project (Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools) is all about working together to support inclusion and celebrate neurodiversity. We had honest conversations around meltdowns, shutdowns, sleep difficulties, and managing change. Parents shared advice and strategies, supporting one another in a positive and understanding space. We also explored tools like the 5 Point Scale and the anxiety curve to help us better understand and support our children's emotional needs. It was a truly supportive and encouraging atmosphere. Although this was our final PINS meeting, we're hoping to run more parent sessions for all families of children with SEND in the Summer termmore info to follow! Thank you to everyone who took part – your voices and contributions truly make a difference
In DT, our Year 5 students have been busy creating amazing nursery rhyme pop-up books! This morning, we had some special visitors from Nook Barn Nursery who came to enjoy our wonderful stories. It was such a joy to share our creations with the little ones! We even had fun playing games, singing nursery rhymes, and getting to hold the chicks! A fantastic morning full of creativity, storytelling, and smiles!
A massive thank you to all the parents, carers, and families who supported our Easter Disco. Thanks to your generosity, we raised over £1,000 for our school! A special shoutout to our amazing PTA and staff for their hard work in organising, setting up, and volunteering on the night. It certainly wouldn't be possible without you!
Eid Mubarak Muslims have recently been fasting during Ramadan and have celebrated Eid. Children in school have learnt all about this special festival by researching facts, creating mendhi patterns and having faces painted by our very own creative Miss Issa. We hope all of our families and staff who celebrated had a joyous and blessed Eid filled with love, laughter, and togetherness.

What an incredible performance we had during our 'Little Red' class assembly! Our early years children were absolute stars, we are in awe of our wonderful children who performed so beautifully and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work, creativity, and confidence yesterday. Tonight, we proudly opened our very own Art Gallery, showcasing the incredible artwork created by our talented children during our Spring 1 unit! With the help of our dedicated staff and wonderful student helpers, we transformed our space into a stunning exhibition for families to enjoy. It was heartwarming to see parents, carers, and loved ones admiring the creativity and hard work of our young artists. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed, attended, and celebrated the children's artistic achievements with us! Your support makes moments like these truly special. What was your favorite piece from the exhibition? Let us know in the comments! #SchoolArtGallery #YoungArtists #CreativityInAction #ProudMoments
Today we were joined by Sensei Paul and Sensei Tony who talked to us all about the skill of karate. We learnt how it can help us to develop respect, team work and fitness. They organise lessons throughout Darwen, Blackburn, Manchester and even have a class here at school on a Tuesday. Your child will be coming home with a letter today.
A huge thank you to all the parents and carers who joined us for last week's PINS (Partnerships for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools) Parent Meeting! It was wonderful to see so many of you come together to support neurodiversity and inclusion in our school community. This time, we explored the important topic of maskinga behaviour many neurodivergent children engage in to blend in or cope with social expectations. Through open discussions and shared experiences, we deepened our understanding of how masking affects our children and how we can best support them at home and in school. Hearing your stories, questions, and ideas made this session truly meaningful. Your involvement helps us build a strong, supportive environment where every child can be their authentic self and thrive. Couldn't make it this time? Don't worry! We will be hosting more Coffee, Cake, and Conversations events in the near future. If you have any questions or want to learn more, feel free to contact our SEND Co. Let's continue working together to create an inclusive and understanding community for all our children.
