Striving for Excellence

Covid 19 - December 21

Over the last 10 days we have seen a rapid increase in COVID cases, with an official ‘outbreak’ in one class. This ‘outbreak’ status is triggered by at least 3 children testing positive within a ten day period.  As a result, we have returned this class to a protective ‘bubble’, following procedures in line with last year’s return to school.  Details have been sent to the families of children impacted by this change.

We have sent recent communication regarding our expectation of PCR testing and Lateral Flow Testing to parents in the last few days.  In summary, we need families to get into the culture of using Lateral Flow Tests daily with their children when they have cold-like symptoms and following a Negative PCR tests.

We have had extensive meetings with the Local Authority and representatives from public health to advise us on the next steps to reducing the number of cases and breaking the chain of transmission. This process was finalised yesterday.

Christmas events are naturally a risk to us, and always were. The good news is that we are in a position to carry on with the events planned, but with increased protective measures.  This will split opinion amongst parents, but we believe it is the right decision to continue re-connecting with our families after a distant two years.

We have done everything we can to make sure we can have ‘life as normal’.  Whilst it may not be perfect, and everyone will have a viewpoint, it is important to realise that the easiest solution would have been to cancel all events.  This is a sign of our commitment to our children and families.

CHRISTMAS EVENTS – PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT REQUIREMENTS

Christmas Fair

We took the decision to carry on with the Christmas fair to begin the process of re-establishing relationships with families, many of whom we haven’t seen for a few years.

To note: there is no connection between the hosting of the Christmas Fair and the positive cases in school.

Lateral Flow Test KITS

To support with the above measures, we have arranged for a Public Health Team to attend school at 3:00pm today (Thursday 2nd December) on the KS1 Playground to distribute free test kits to families.

PLEASE TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO GET KITS TO ABIDE BY THE MEASURES SET OUT ABOVE

Alternatively, you can source kits from pharmacies and test centres.

We will increasingly be using this approach of ‘test to attend’ in the future.

Thank you for your continued support.
